IVVLG-INITIATION PROCESS (DĪKṢĀ)
INITIATION PROCESS (DĪKṢĀ)
A Guided Entry into International Veena Venu Legacy Gurukul
What Initiation Means Here
Initiation at International Veena Venu Legacy Gurukul is not “enrollment.”
It is Dīkṣā, formal entry into a disciplined path and a living lineage.
The process is designed to protect both the seeker and the tradition, and to place you into the pathway that matches your readiness and the Gurukul standard. It is deliberate, and it is designed to move efficiently.
Seats are limited. Intake may move to a waitlist based on pathway capacity.
Time Window and Capacity Policy
Our Dīkṣā process runs on a rolling intake with limited capacity. Therefore, the initiation steps must be completed within 72 hours of your first enquiry or Expression of Intent submission.
If the process is not completed within this window, your request may be moved to the waitlist and taken up again subject to availability.
The Three Phases of Dīkṣā
The initiation process unfolds in three phases, with clear steps for alignment, readiness, and formal entry.
PHASE 1: EXPRESSION AND ORIENTATION
Step 1: Expression of Intent (Form 1)
Begin by submitting a short Expression of Intent.
This is not an application. It is a clear statement:
- Why are you here?
- What are you seeking?
- What can you realistically commit?
What happens next: You receive confirmation and access to essential reading materials.
Step 2: Read Before Meeting (Document Pack)
You will receive an official link pack that includes:
- Paramparā-Patra (Manifesto)
- Program Architecture
- FAQ
- Other important documents shared by the Gurukul
- Veena Venu Art Foundation website: www.veenavenuartfoundation.com
- Admissions and Dīkṣā details: www.veenavenuartfoundation.com/admissions
Readiness Confirmation: Before scheduling Meeting 1, you will confirm through a simple checkbox that you have read the materials and understand that this is a Gurukul path, not fast coaching.
Step 3: First Online Meeting
Orientation, 10-15 Minutes
Your first online meeting is a brief orientation.
Purpose:
- Confirm alignment with Gurukul standards, including pace, discipline, expectations, and pathway structure
- Answer key questions
- Determine whether it is appropriate to proceed to the application stage
This meeting is not about “selling a course.”
PHASE 2: APPLICATION AND PATHWAY PLACEMENT
Step 4: Application (Form 2) and Application and Review Fee
Non-Refundable
If alignment is confirmed, you will be invited to submit the Application Form with the Application and Review Fee.
This covers:
- Faculty review and assessment time
- Pathway, Program, Course, Instrument or Vocal recommendation and placement
- Administrative processing
Progression to the next step depends on readiness and current pathway capacity.
Step 5: Second Online Meeting
Pathway and Details, 15-20 Minutes
In the second online meeting, we clarify:
- Your recommended pathway, program or course and entry point
- The training rhythm and continuity expectations
- How progression is reviewed
- Practical commitments required at your level
You should leave this meeting with full clarity on what proceeding means.
Fast-Track Note: If you are ready, we recommend completing the steps within 72 hours, as seats are offered on a rolling basis. If you require more time, you may be moved to the waitlist.
It is about clarity and correct entry.
PHASE 3: GUIDANCE AND FORMAL ENTRY
Step 6: Guidance Meeting with Faculty
When required, selected applicants are invited for a guidance meeting with Dr. Radhika Veenasadhika and/or senior faculty.
Purpose:
- Confirm fit and discipline readiness
- Finalize pathway placement
- Address any final concerns
Acceptance remains deliberate.
Step 7: Admission and Dīkṣā Confirmation
Final admission and initiation are completed directly with the Gurukul, either online or in person at the Gurukul.
What happens:
- Formal confirmation of acceptance
- Fee payment
- Pathway placement
- Acknowledgment of Gurukul standards and learner code
- Submission of important documents
- Dīkṣā Confirmation, a simple and sacred moment marking formal entry into the lineage
You are no longer an enquiry.
You are now part of Veena Venu Legacy Gurukul.
Your first steps with the Gurukul now begin.
YOUR FIRST STEPS AFTER DĪKṢĀ
01
Veena Venu Prelude
Understanding You Before Teaching Begins
The Prelude is a short online introduction completed right at the start of a student’s time with the Gurukul.
It isn’t an exam. There’s no pass or fail.
It simply helps us understand how a student listens, observes, learns, and what draws them to music and to their own interests.
For younger students, a parent can be involved in completing it.
02
Pratham Naad
Your Musical Starting Point
Soon after admission, every student completes Pratham Naad, a simple musical knowledge check that needs no preparation.
We ask students to answer honestly, from wherever they stand at that point.
The point isn’t to judge them. It’s to mark an honest starting line, so their progress from here can actually be measured against something real.
03
Gurukul Initiation
Your First Month at Veena Venu
Practical training starts immediately, from the first week.
Over the first month, students are also introduced to Veena Venu’s broader educational culture: attentive listening, musical thought, foundational knowledge, cultural understanding, and what serious study actually demands of a person.
This opening stretch sets the tone for everything after: learning music means learning far more than what to sing or play.

Submit your Expression of Intent.
If sincerity is present, the Gurukul will guide the rest, with clarity and speed.
